With heavy rain in the forecast but none showing on the statewide radar, Penn Can Speedway officials decided to wait the afternoon out which proved to be a wise decision as the clouds cleared and racing went off at its appointed time.
Dan Vauter of Forest City, has been struggling the last few weeks at the speedway. Friday Vauter put his modified out front and held off a strong field for his second win of the season.
In the late model division, Tracy Gregory of Factoryville, took the lead late and won another feature event.
Frank Payne of Kingsley continued his hot streak picking up another super stock victory while Tom Garren of Tunkhannock won his first pure stock feature of the year.
Klem Underwood of Tunkhannock returned to Victory Lane in the four cylinder division.
Next week the Xcel 600 modifieds return for their last race of the Parts Peddler Series.
They will be joined by the modifieds, late models, sportsman, super stocks, pure stocks. The modified winner will be a guaranteed starter in the big King of the Catskills ROC race at the Accord Speedway in September.
Penn Can Speedway management would like to apologize to those fans attending this past Friday expecting CRSA Sprint Cars. Without notifying the promoters of Penn Can CRSA Director Brian Grisel broke our agreement and canceled the sprint car portion of the program.
