Arthur Faraday Jr., of Clarks Summit, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Mercy Hospital. He and his loving wife, the former Frances Garrison, celebrated 63 years of marriage in February.
Born September 6, 1925, son of the late Arthur and Emma Schuman Faraday, he was a resident of the Newton Ransom area most of his life. Prior to retirement in 1987, he was employed by the Swanee/Potlatch Paper Company for 44 years. He was an active member of the Countryside Community Church and an avid fan of the Red Barons. Art and Fran enjoyed 21 wonderful years of retirement together and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed his winters in Florida, bowling and the casino. He never refused a good piece of chocolate, never tasted a fruit or vegetable and was probably the only man in town to have a remote control for everything he owned.
He was a dear and loving husband, an awesome father and a very proud grandfather who will always be remembered for his love of life and the enthusiasm in which he embraced each new day.
Also surviving are two sons, Ronald, and his wife Peggy, Clarks Summit; Dale, and his wife, Susan, Stroudsburg; a daughter, Darla Petty, and her husband, Dennis, Clarks Summit; six grandchildren: two great- grandchildren; a brother, Robert, Clarks Summit; a sister, Sandra Wilson, Mt. Vernon, IL, nieces and nephews. It is with much love and great respect that he will be dearly missed by his entire family, friends and community. A funeral service was to be held on Monday, Oct. 20 from the Countryside Community Church, Newton Ransom Blvd., Clarks Summit, with services by Rev. Dr. Jean-Pierre Duncan, pastor. Interment will be in Abington Hills Cemetery. Arrangements from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Memorials may be made to the Countryside Community Church, 14001 Church Hill Rd., Clarks Summit, PA 18411. For directions or to sign the online guest book, visit .
