Tom Pugh, Senior Vice President, Allied Services recently recognized the volunteer work of the Teart family at the 15th annual Autism Classic Golf Tournament at Huntsville Golf Club. Dolphus Teart, father of John Heinz Rehab pediatric patient Tevon Teart, who is autistic, co-founded a team called John Heinz Parents and Professionals in 2005. The purpose of the team has been to organize socialization activities for children with autism and their families. Some of the events which have been coordinated include bowling events, a Steamtown Train excursion in October, and an annual trip to the Philadelphia Zoo for autism awareness day in April. The benefits of these outings are to provide a comfortable and supportive environment for the families of autistic children in which they can interact to gain support and insight from others.
