The Abington Heights Middle School soccer team posted a perfect 14-0 Lackawanna League Division I record. In the post season, Abington went on to defeat Mt. View, 2-0, both goals being scored by Alex Chapman, to win their fourth consecutive Lackawanna League title. The team has won 59 consecutive Lackawanna League matches over the past four seasons. Abington Heights came up a bit short in attempting to defend their third consecutive District 2 title, falling to a very good Dallas squad, 2-0, in the championship.
Alex Chapman led the team in scoring with 51 points (20 goals, 11 assists). Ryan Patrick was close behind with 38 points (15 goals, 8 assists), while Paige Eisenlohr scored eight goals. Chris Ferrario finished second on the team in assists with nine, while adding three goals (15 points). Goalkeeper Justin Porpiglia did posted 0.53 goals against average with 10 shutouts for the Comets, and was backed up by Kevin Schumacher. The defense was led by Matt Hoyt, Ryan Devine, Kevin Kerns, Sante Romaldini and back-ups Ian Schobel, Dylan Harris and Patrick Conahan. The midfield was anchored by Beth Dine, Chris Ferrario, Tyler Julian, Katrina Helcoski and Caleb Overholser. Spencer Coleman, and Sara Sopinski added midfield depth, while Jason Bamford was a sparkplug off the bench up front for the Comets.
