Helen Ostroski Sasz, 94, of Clarks Green, died Saturday, Jan. 26, in the VNA Hospice Unit at Community Medical Center. She was the widow of John Sasz Sr., who died Jan. 1, 1972.
Born April 28, 1913, in Dickson City, daughter of the late John and Josephine Mozolewski Ostroski, she was a Clarks Green resident since 1974, having moved from Scranton. Before retiring, she was employed by Seneca Sportswear, where she worked as a sewing operator. She was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Church, Scranton, and was a former member of Transfiguration Byzantine Church, Glenburn.
Surviving are a son, John Sasz Jr., Clarks Green; two granddaughters, Marilyn Yassu, Woodbridge, VA and M. Erika Mebane, Austin, Texas and twin great-granddaughters, Nova and Neva, Austin. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Josephine Cravetts, Anna Savage and Sophie Povalites; and four brothers, John, Ben, Joseph and Martin Ostroski.
The funeral was to be Wednesday, Jan. 30 from the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit, with Divine Liturgy at 11 in St. Mary Byzantine Church, 310 Mifflin Ave., to be celebrated by the Very Rev.
