South Abington Elementary School in Chinchilla was recently named a No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School, a title that honors public and private schools that are either academically superior or demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement.
The school celebrated the award on Friday, Nov. 7, with an assembly that featured U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Scranton. At an Open House held at the school on Thursday, Nov. 6, Lackawanna County Commissioner Michael Washo congratulated Principal Bob Bugno and proclaimed November 6 as South Abington Elementary Day in Lackawanna County.
