The Abington Community Library is offering a new education and discussion series for individuals 18 years of age and younger and their families who may be in need of support during recovery or who are seeking resources to deal with substance abuse. Assistant Abington Heights High School Principal Mike Beamish suggested contacting Clear Brook Treatment Centers to find out more about the Families Helping Families program. This educational programming will serve as our working model to provide solid information to the community on the effects of alcohol and drugs on the family unit and individuals.
As sponsoring entity for Families Helping Families the Clear Brook Foundation will provide program facilitators on Wednesday nights, beginning September 17, to address family issues in a formal lecture from 6:30 to 7:20 p.m. From 7:30 to 8:15 p.m., participants will be invited to break into smaller groups for more discussion. This ongoing and open-ended program will run from September through June, with no charge to the library or to the participants who attend this series and refreshments will be served.
