Thomas Martin Nunes , 71, of Clarks Summit, died Tuesday, April 22, at the Gino Merli Veterans Center in Scranton. His wife is the former Janet Lear. The couple would have celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary this April 30.
Born in Newark, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Martin and Sophie Rentz Nunes. He resided in Ransom Twp. since 1988. Thomas was the former maintenance supervisor for Engelhar INC.., in Newark, NJ. Upon arriving in PA, he was a self- employed business owner in Peckville. He was a member of the Model Airplane Association which he truly enjoyed. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was always whistling while he worked and enjoyed life and people around him. The family wishes to thank the Gino Merli Center for their care and compassion.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas; Carbondale and Jeffrey, Blakely, three daughters Joan Mikloiche, Peckville, Carol Ammirata, Pt. Pleasant, NJ and Audra Lynch, Scranton; a stepson Scott Lear Cumber, Nicholson; two stepdaughters Nadene Lee Burlew and Patricia Lynn Signorile, both of Sayreville, NJ; a sister Alice Mercuri residing in Roseland, NJ and 17 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Robert and a sister, Delores Annichiarico who resided in New Jersey.
Arrangements from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. The funeral church service was to be Saturday, April 25 at the Trinity United Methodist Church Frank St., Parlin, NJ. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy, NJ.
