Gerald A. Scott Sr., 79, lifelong resident of Milwaukee section of Ransom, died Sunday, June 29 at Mercy Hospice. His wife of 59 years is the former June Bedell; the couple would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in February.
Born November 6, 1928 in Duryea, he was the son of the late Harold and Victoria Shimley Scott. He was a lifelong active member and Trustee of the Milwaukee United Methodist Church and Cemetery Association, a founding member of the Newton Ransom Volunteer Fire Co. and Ambulance Service where he also served as an E.M.T. He retired after 47 years of service at Pope and Talbot where he was an employee in the Maintenance Department as a Machinist. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping with his family; he was an avid sports fan and a devoted family man loved by all.
Also surviving are four daughters and a son, Diane Siniawa and her husband, Daniel, Ginger Henningson, Robin Ross and her husband, Donald, Gerald Scott Jr., and his wife, Jennifer and Kelly Cardone, and her husband, William; nine grandchildren, Paul Thomas, Amy Niewentski, Heidi Keller, Heather Oakie, Wendy Davis, Vanessa Scott, Cassandra Scott, William Cardone and Aden Cardone; seven great- grandchildren, Jordan and Hunter Oakie, Erin, Kyle, and Collin Niewinski, Trever and Tess Keller; a brother Robert, and two sisters Mary Rusick and Theresa Tonti. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Scott.
A funeral will be held on Thursday, July 3 at 11a.m. at the Milwaukee United Methodist Church, Milwaukee Rd., Ransom Twp., with services by the Rev. Judy Wanck. Interment will be in Milwaukee Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 1to 3 p.m. or 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lawrence E Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
