Lupus programs set

The Lupus Foundation of Pennsylvania, Pocono/NE Branch staff members gather to plan the Screenings and New Patient Orientation programs offered as part of their mission to promote awareness, education, service and research for those affected by lupus. Both programs are free and reservations are not required. Screenings will take place every Tuesday from 12 to 1 p.m. and new patient orientations will be held the second Tuesday of every month from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Foundation, 615 Jefferson Ave., Scranton. Lupus affects one in every 185 people. It is extremely difficult to diagnose and can be fatal, if not detected early or treated aggressively.
