Dalton resident Edward E. Marionni was honored Wednesday evening, Nov. 10, by The Abington Journal, as the recipient of the fourth annual R. Matthew Burne Lifetime of Service Award.
A resident of Dalton, Marionni was presented with the award in recognition of his years of service to local charities and civic groups, including the Boy Scouts of America and the Christy Mathewson Little League. He was honored during a reception at the Ramada in Clarks Summit.
The R. Matthew Burne Lifetime of Service Award is presented annually by The Abington Journal. Before his death, Matt Burne showed that it is possible to create positive change on a grand scale while at the same time making a unique difference in the daily lives of those around him. Every year, the Burne family offers Lifetime of Service honorees the ability to donate funds to their favorite local organizations.
Marionni was presented with an award of $2,000 from the Burne family, which he will divide between Safety Net of Scranton, Boy Scout Troop 175 of Factoryville and Covenant Presbyterian Church Piano Fund of Scranton.
