Two senior Scouts from Factoryville Boy Scout Troop 175 participated in the Susquehanna Super Hike and Ultra Trail Run near Lancaster, Sept. 11.
Justin Clarke, 17, an Eagle Scout from the troop and Jamie Reese, 16, a Life Scout, woke at 4:30 a.m. and began hiking at 7 a.m. The hike was a 28.4-mile trail challenge and had to be completed in 12 hours. Four hundred people registered and 360 participated. Clarke finished at 4:26 p.m., completing the course in seven hours, 26 minutes and 38 seconds. He came in 89th and Reese came in 90th. Both are cross-country runners at Lackawanna Trail Jr./Sr. High School.
Clarke and Reese came in first and second place, respectively, for the 19 and under age group.
