The Northeast Vegetable Growers Meeting will be held Thursday, Jan. 28. The meeting will be held at the Newton Ransom Fire Company on the Newton-Ransom Boulevard, Clarks Summit, starting at 8:45 a.m. (registration) and ending at 3 p.m. The reservation deadline is Jan. 21 at the Lackawanna County Cooperative Extension office.
The 2010 program will focus on: Managing Bacterial Diseases in Tomatoes and Peppers, Managing Mildew in Cucurbits, Late Blight- What we learned in 2009, Farm Food Safety, Update from PDA; Pesticide Recordkeeping, Risk Management, and Impacts of Natural Gas Drilling on Water. Speakers include Beth Gugino, Dave Messersmith, Jayson Harper, and John Esslinger from Penn State University and Ronald Edwards from the PA Department of Agriculture.
Reservation fee (includes lunch) is $18 and should be mailed to Lackawanna County Extension, 200 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18503 by Jan. 21. Registration at the door is $25.
