Shown, from left, Declan Walsh and Louis Scartelli, demonstrate a self-defense move, called “Left Jab,” during a children’s class at Gracie Sports Macarra BJJ PA, 8 Tiger Muay Thai, Dunmore, with Kru James Simrell, of Clarks Summit and Coach Chris Walsh.

Step one: Louis has his left arm bent upward with his left fist closed resting on his left cheek. His feet are shoulder distance with the left foot one step forward.

Step two: Louis jabs by extending his left arm outward in a fast motion, holding a closed fist . At the same reaction time, he steps with the left foot forward and the right foot follows by sliding.

Step three: The left jab hits the target and recoils straight back to the left cheek in a fast motion. Note: Louis’s right closed fist remains stationed on his right cheek.
