The pristine nature of the Susquehanna River near Tunkhannock was the focus of the sixth annual Celebrate Our River Day held July 24. Organizers said about 1,000 visitors enjoyed live music, saw fishing and boating demonstrations, and learned about the indigenous wildlife and plant life at the Riverside Park located on its banks in Tunkhannock.
Margie Young, program director of the Wyoming County Cultural Center at the Dietrich Theater, an environmentally minded non-profit group, said the event brings people together to learn about what the river offers with respect to recreation and natural habitats.
