Agnes Marie Doyle Bailey, 92, Dalton, died peacefully in her home Oct. 23, 2010. She was the widow of George Edward Bailey who died in 1999.
Born in Pierce City, Oklahoma in 1918, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Marie Doyle. Prior to retirement she was an editor for Time, Life and Fortune Magazines in New York City. She has lived in Dalton for the past 11 years with her daughter, Pamela and grandchildren, Kacie, Kristie and Keriann Grieder. She had previously lived in Albuquerque, N.M., St. Louis, Mo. and New York City.
She adored art and was an accomplished painter and textile artist. She had a passion for interior decorating, which was evident in all of her homes.
Agnes was elegant, curious and intelligent. She appreciated beauty, nature and a good story. She loved to laugh and entertain her company of friends.
Also surviving are a children, Pamela Bailey, Michael Bailey and Linda Bailey-Martiniere; four granddaughters, Kacie Greider Conaboy, Kristie Greider, Keriann Greider and Madelynn Martiniere; a sister, Patricia Fletcher.
