The Abington Community Library is pleased to host local theatre in our own “backyard” later this month.

Ghostlight Productions, the same local theatre group that produces Shakespeare in the Park at South Abington Park each year, is presenting “Underage Theatre: Scenes from Metamorphoses.” After a successful run of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” at the beginning of the summer, Ghostlight Productions moved to “Scenes of Metamorphoses,” based on the “Myths of Ovid” and written by Mary Zimmerman. Rachel Luann Strayer is directing the production, and a dedicated group of young people have been rehearsing nearly every day outside the library.

Performances will be held Friday, July 25 at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, July 26 at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 27 at 2:30 p.m. Admission is free, and attendees should bring blankets and chairs, as everything will be outdoors.

Remember, Summer Reading Programs for all ages continue at the library until Aug. 1. Keep reading, entering contests, and attending exciting events. Looking for ideas? Try one of these new mystery novels for adults available for checkout:
