The Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple will host a lineup of ghoulish festivities during the month of October, and kicking it all off is the Center’s first ever “Zombie Prom” on Oct. 17.

Attendees are invited to dress in their zombie best for a formal promenade for the undead, although living humans are also welcome. The dance begins at 9:30 p.m. The alcohol free event will culminate with a midnight screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”

The night will include a contest to name “Zombie Prom King and Queen,” prize giveaways and a chance for a zombie prom portrait. Prom/party attire is strongly encouraged.

Other upcoming October events include: a screening of “Zombie Nightmare,” as part of the SCC’s Bad Movie Thursdays on Oct. 2; “Thrill the World,” a worldwide flash mob to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” Oct. 25 and a Graveyard Cabaret titled “The Way of All Flesh” Oct. 30, co-produced by the SCC and REV Theatre Company.

Tickets for the Zombie Prom are $15 and include admission to both the dance and the film screening. Doors will open at 9 p.m. Tickets for just the screening are $10. Concessions will be available for purchase. Tickets can be purchased at the Fidelity Box Office at the Scranton Cultural Center in person, by calling 570-344-1111, or via all applicable Ticketmaster outlets.
