John H. Evans, Dalton, died Sunday morning at the hospice unit of Community Medical Center. His wife was the former Ruth White. They would have been married 59 years this September.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late David and Marion Hughes Evans. He had lived in the Falls area for more than 50 years. Prior to retirement, he was a credit manager for the former Scranton Lace Company for many years. He was a member of the Providence Methodist Church. He was a Boy Scout, earning the rank of Eagle and later becoming a Scout Master.
John loved to square dance and to bowl.
Also surviving are a son, David S. Evans, Kety, TX; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Sue Ramage and two brothers, Robert F. and Alfred D. Evans.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 9 at 10 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by Pastor Janet Sexton and Rev. Arthur Davis. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Glendale.
