John J. Connolly, 73, Chinchilla, died Monday, August 6, at home. He is survived by his wife, the former Beryl Hunold Connolly. They were married more than 45 years.
Born in Scranton on October 10, 1933, he was the son of the late John and Loretta Cathlin Connolly. He resided in Chinchilla for 44 years. He was a barber for 57 years and also owner of the Smoke Shop.
He was a lifelong member of the Chinchilla Hose Company, serving 44 years; and was a member of the VFW Post 7069, Clarks Summit. He was a disabled Veteran of the Korean War, US Navy UDTMDU Service. John was a Deputy Sheriff of Lackawanna County since 1982.
He loved hunting and camping. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Also surviving are three sons: John, Scranton; Sean and his wife, LuAnn, Chinchilla and Shannon and his wife, Theresa, Newton; four grandchildren, Zane, Leah, Branden and Devin Connolly; a sister Mary Forsette and her husband, Nicholas, Scranton; sister-in-law, Nancy Connolly, Chinchilla; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother James.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday from Our Lady of the Snows Church, Clarks Summit. Interment will be in Shady Lane Cemetery, Chinchilla.
