All residents of Clarks Summit Borough and surrounding communities should know that federal and state funds are no longer available for municipalities regarding the removal of dead and diseased trees. Nor are funds available for replanting of young trees after removal.
The Clarks Summit Shade Tree Commission was formed in August of 2006. Funding had ceased prior to this date.
With the limited funds available, we were able to remove 16 dead and/or diseased trees within the Borough. There are in excess of 100 trees, which should be removed because of their condition.
Our goal was to plant a young, healthy tree when one was removed, but we cannot proceed. Planting of fresh, young trees is extremely important for our generation, but perhaps more important for future generations.
If you would be kind enough to participate in this worthwhile project, kindly forward your contribution to:
Clarks Summit Shade Tree Commission, Borough of Clarks Summit, 304 South State Street, Clarks Summit, PA 18411-1592.
We would be pleased to place your name, or that of a loved one, on a personalized brass marker to be inserted near the newly planted tree.
We thank you very much.
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
