On Thursday, June 7, Abington Heights Middle School students took part in medieval activities as presented by the Society of Creative Anachronism (SCA). The SCA is an international organization dedicated to researching and recreating the arts and skills of pre-17th century Europe. Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance attend events which may feature tournaments, arts exhibits, classes, workshops, dancing, feasts and more. In the early part of the day, students created and wore coats of arms. Midday, at the equestrian arena across from the school on Newton Ransom Boulevard, a demonstration of jousting, medieval clothing and armor was featured.
