Dalton book and bake sale a success, herb sale planned

First Posted: 4/29/2015

Hello everyone and welcome to May.

We’d like to begin this month’s newsletter with a huge thank you. Our library’s book and bake sale was held last month and it was a wonderful day for everyone involved. It was nice to see many patrons from our community that day, especially since our sale benefits our library. Thank you to all who visited, volunteered time, baked homemade goodies or donated books.

We hope to see everyone again the third Saturday in October for our Fall Book and Bake Sale.

With the end of school just around the corner, summer activities and Summer Reading Program are being planned. The Summer Reading Program will be held for eight weeks and summer activities will be held for six weeks. Everything is free.

We will offer yoga, art, media and book groups, along with the Summer Reading Program. There will be more details for all summer events as the end of school nears and sign ups for these groups will start at the beginning of June. If anyone has questions about summer events, email JFamiletti@albright.org.

The Friends of the Dalton Community Library will host the Sixth Annual Herb and Perennial Festival on Saturday, May 16 at the Dalton Fire Hall. This festival gets more and more popular each year as the community visits to make purchases at great prices. The festival will begin at 9 a.m. and end at noon. The contact person for this event is Cynthia Holbert.

The Mile Long Yard Sale will take place on that same Saturday. What fantastic reasons to visit Dalton.

Our teen reading group, TRL, that ended in April was a wonderful experience. The group completed all the books it set out to discuss and had fun while doing it. We hope to have as much success with teen groups in the future.

As usual for May, the Dalton Community Library is a busy place. We love our friendly patrons and look forward to sharing this exciting month. To contact us, call 570-563-2014.
