SOUTH ABINGTON TWP. — McDonald’s on Northern Boulevard will host one of several National Children’s Dental Health Month events planned for February by the Scranton District Dental Society (SDDS). Ronald McDonald and Toothy will visit and entertain children at the restaurant from 9 to 11 a.m. Feb. 21. The Tooth Fairy will also be on hand to give out gift bags filled with coupons, toothbrushes and more.

National Children’s Dental Health Month is an oral health campaign aimed at educating Pennsylvania youths about the importance of good oral health. Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.

More free National Children’s Dental Health Month events are at other area McDonald’s, including: 9 to 11 a.m. Feb. 7 at North Side (near Scranton Prep.); 12 to 2 p.m. Feb. 7 on Keyser Avenue and 12 to 2 p.m. Feb. 21 in Tunkhannock.

The Albright Memorial Children’s Library will also participate in the campaign with Tooth Fairy Day at 2 p.m. Feb. 8.

During this event, children will enjoy a magic show, a dental hygiene presentation, a visit from The Tooth Fairy, face painting, storytelling, gifts and more. Each child who checks out at least three library items that day will receive a gift. Free registration is required and can be made by calling the library at 348-3000 ext. 3015.
