October is Domestic Violence Awareness month, and one way the Women’s Resource Center raises awareness of the impact of domestic violence in the community is through its Empty Place at the Table exhibit.

An Empty Place at the Table honors individuals from Lackawanna and Susquehanna counties whose lives were tragically cut short due to domestic violence. Each place at the table is unique in that personal items from the individuals are displayed, so that each place setting serves as a distinctive memorial. The empty place settings are a constant reminder to inspire hope and reform in the realm of domestic violence.

A public exhibit of An Empty Place at the Table will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 8.

WRC will also display the exhibit at the PA Conference for Women in Philadelphia on Oct. 16 and at Keystone College from noon to 6 p.m. on Oct. 20.
