Family Service Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania (FSA of NEPA) will celebrate 119 years of service to children, individuals and families at their Annual Meeting at the East Mountain Inn, Route 115, Wilkes-Barre at noon Monday, Sept. 8.

This year FSA will honor The Luzerne Foundation and its board of directors and staff with the FSA Community Leader of the Year Award for outstanding support of the FSA and other family related organizations.

The Luzerne Foundation is a community foundation established in 1994 as a force for philanthropy in the community. To date more than $60 million dollars in grants was distributed to nonprofit organizations and more than 280 funds were created.

Sally Connor, an FSA of NEPA Trustee and member of the FSA of NEPA Board of Directors, will receive the Albert N. Danoff Humanitarian Award for her compassion, dedication and work on behalf of families in the community.

Connor became a member of the FSA Board of Directors in September of 1993, and became involved in various Committees where she demonstrated her leadership skills, rising to the Presidency of the Board from 1999 through 2001.

In addition to her work at Family Service Association, Connor served her community as a member of the Interfaith Council, Temple Israel Sisterhood, the University of Pennsylvania Association of NEPA, the Jewish Family Service Association, Adult Ecumenical Enterprises, Inc. and B’nai B’rith Housing Foundation as well as the Ethics Institute of Northeastern PA. She previously served as Circulation Librarian at Wilkes University and as an Administrator for Temple Israel for 25 years. She received several awards, including the 2011 Pearl Kaufman Annual Service Award for Jewish Family Services in Wilkes-Barre.
