Scranton – Leadership Lackawanna was recently approved by the Department of Community and Economic Development as an Educational Improvement Organization after meeting certain criteria and developing an “innovative educational program.”

Four specific areas of the TLT (Tomorrow’s Leaders Today) program were approved as “innovative educational programs” for EITC; Crimes and Corrections Day, Health Care Day, History and Heritage Day and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Day. These programs are not currently part of the regular, academic structure of a public school. Additionally, they enhance the school’s curriculum and provide students with a unique methodology and skill set.

In support of this program, First National Bank donated $2,500 to Leadership Lackawanna through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program.

The curriculum for each session of TLT is developed by a committee of community leaders and has a theme and objective, as well as specialized instructional materials and instructors. The use of games, activities, worksheets, presentations and seminars makes the program unique.
