Jeanne Yarmey, Hillside Park’s Beautification Coordinator, is asking for volunteers to come forward to help keep Hillside Park beautiful by adopting and maintaining a small garden space.
The 100 acres of Hillside Park, 1188 Winola Road South Abington Township, is managed by the Abington Area Joint Recreation Board (AAJRB), a volunteer organization.
Volunteers are needed to perform the task of mulching, weeding and maintaining a single flower bed.
Hillside Park’s Recreation Department maintains the grounds but are not able to maintain the park’s flower bed. A small garden space can be managed by an individual or a group of individuals who take turns to pitch in. It can be done by a family, Girl Scout Troop, Boy Scout Troop, college service club, sports team, neighborhood, group of parents whose children attend sports practices at the park, civic group or business organization. The work can also be performed in memory of a loved one.
The AAJRB will put a small sign noting who is maintaining that garden space. Those interested may contact Jeanne Yarmey at 570-510-6575.
