The Our Lady of Snows/Church of St. Benedict held their 22nd annual bazaar at the church grounds of the Church of St. Benedict from July 31 to Aug. 2.
Founder/president of Cathletics: Catholic Apologetics Al Vargo and his wife Vicky Vargo, who both attend the Church of St. Benedict, gave away free prayer books, devotionals and evangelic CDs to the bazaar-goers.
“I’m glad the weather’s been cooperating,” Al Vargo said on the first day of the bazaar. “I’m glad people are showing interest. It’s a church fair. We’ve been bringing God into the equation. We can answer questions while they (bazaar-goers) are having fun.”
Many other church members volunteered to provide food. Corn was compliments of Eckel Farms. Heavenly Treats, a volunteer-run dessert booth, offered cakes, cupcakes and pies.
“Everyone loved the Heavenly Treats bake sale goods,” said Donna Coleman, chairperson of the booth.
Musicians performed on stage on all three nights. On July 31, local bands such as Master Fox (winner of the Battle of the Bands), The Abbott Bros and Kaylin Karr competed in the Thursday Battle of the Bands.
“It’s a transcending experience,” Matt Montella of The Abbott Bros. said about performing at the bazaar.
Local band Mace in Dickson performed on stage on Aug. 2 and The Wanabees played on Aug. 2.
There were also musical performances at Cafe Mocha, the bazaar’s coffee shop. The musicians who performed in this venue included Mike Sirianni, James Barrett, Bill Frye and Kaylin Karr, who performed with Matt Montella’s brother, Nate Montella. Café Mocha provided coffee, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, scones and games for people to enjoy while watching the musicians.
Over 40 booths, including a book store, a plant store, a bingo tent, massage tables, raffle baskets and a booth with a create-your-own wind spinner were present at the bazaar. There were also moon bounces and hay rides.
