Timmy Walsh, creator of Camera For A Cure, was recently invited to attend the Field Of Pink, a 5K walk in Hanover, ending with the planting of a field of pink flags. Honoring those who battled breast cancer or any cancer, participants purchased a flag and planted each flag with a message, representing a loved one.
Invited by Leah and Michelle Walia, creators of The CHEMO Bag, Walsh was excited to be a part of the event. Selling his original photos along with pink paracord bracelets, Walsh raised money for The CHEMO Bag while raising awareness for both breast cancer and lung cancer.
With buddy checks and pink ribbons in high demand, The CHEMO Bag is more than raising funds or awareness for breast cancer. When her mother, Leah, was diagnosed with breast cancer when Michelle was seven years old, she wanted to help others and make a difference in the lives of those receiving chemo. Creating her own nonprofit organization, Michelle was the idea maker behind their new organization. Filling tote bags with lap blankets, nail files, puzzle books, encouraging messages and many other items, Michelle donates each bag with love to cancer patients throughout the Lehigh Valley.
With so much in common creating their own organizations and putting the needs of others before themselves, Timmy and Michelle quickly became friends, running in the field and discussing fundraising tactics.
With The CHEMO Bag, “CHEMO” stands for “Caring, Helping, Encouraging, Motivating Others.”
Camera For A Cure was created by Timmy Walsh at the age of five, with his first show/sale at the age of six. Understanding the severity and the lack of funding for lung cancer after his aunt was diagnosed with stage 3A, Walsh knew that he had to do something to help. Walsh created CFAC and has been raising funds for nonprofit organizations and illness stricken families since 2008. Now, at the age of 12, he continues his quest to raise funds and awareness for lung cancer.
Walsh is an Olyphant and Dalton resident, attends Wyoming Seminary Lower School, and is a Boy Scout with Troop 21 out of Dickson City.
