The South Abington Township Supervisors met on Monday to discuss paving projects throughout the township. The budget for the projects is $350,000.

“We look at the roads that are in the poorest conditions,” Township Manager David O’Neill said. “They can be a flat area and destroyed by ice, have poor drainage or just the age of the road.”

Engineers are working on a design for Gravel Pond Road.

“This is a major project that includes widening the road and paving,” O’Neill said. “Drainage issues will also be addressed.”

Pennsylvania American Water Company will begin a project on Sean Drive, Willow Lane, Green Tree Drive, Oakwood Drive and Reynolds Road beginning in September. The projects are expected to be completed in September 2015. The township will hold off paving these roads until the Pennsylvania American Water Company completes its project.

Bids will be reviewed on July 9 with construction to begin in August for roads to be paved in 2014. The paving projects will be completed in time for the start of school in September.

Roads to be paved include:

* Sunnyside Avenue 220 foot section off Edella Road

* Baker Lane (about 600 feet)

* 100, 200 and 300 block of Caminins Parkway

* Sarah Avenue

* Sailsbury Road

* Alan’s Drive from Meadow Lane to the end of Alan’s Drive

* Maggie’s Road (about 350 feet)
