Welcome to February!

Do you feel that Cabin Fever is setting in? The Dalton Community Library has the cure for you. Come in this month to join our Winter Reading Program called, “Cabin Fever.” For every book read during February, you qualify to win a prize basket. For every three books read, you earn the chance to win the grand prize of an iPad mini.

All you must do is stop in the Dalton Community Library and let us know you’d like to sign up. We will keep track of everything for you. There’s also a Winter Reading Program for the children if they’d like to join, too. It’s called, “You mustache a librarian.”

Just like the adult program, once a child is registered, we will keep track of all the books he or she has read. They are such easy programs to participate in and can be enjoyable for the whole family. Stop in to see some new titles or old favorites we have, and check out all the possibilities of curing your Cabin Fever.

During February, we will be having a special preschool program called, “Smart Starters.” This program will be different from our usual Storytime, yet just as fun. We will begin the program by reading a few books, then concentrating on numbers, letters and the days of the week. We also will discuss themes such as: same or different, near or far, full or empty, and fast or slow. The discussion will be descriptive and age appropriate for your preschooler.

The group will meet for at least 30 minutes, but if the children are capable of continuing, we will go on longer. Smart Starters will be every Tuesday in Feb., the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th. It will start at 11 a.m. Please email JFamiletti@albright.org if you have any questions or would like to join us. I am sure the children will enjoy Smart Starters. Come and join us with your preschooler. Also, keep in mind that our regular Storytime program will return in March.

For our schoolagers, the Kid’s Club program is still going strong after school on Tuesdays at 4. The group has been making bracelets, creating skits and discussing plans for upcoming programs. We have such a talented, funny bunch of kids that come in. The group meets for one hour and the smiles and laughs from the children are truly contagious! If you have someone who’d like to join us on Tuesdays, please call 570-563-2014, or email Jfamiletti@albright.org.

Finally, just a quick mention of our library’s hours: Mondays and Thursdays: 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays: 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. Stop in or call to inquire about any of our programs mentioned, and don’t forgot we have still have our usual groups of MaJong, Bridge, knitting and book clubs. Our programs are always open to new members or beginners.
