Helen Yestrumskas of Clarks Green died Saturday, Feb. 18, in Geisinger Community Medical Center after a brief illness. She was the widow of the late Dr. Peter Edward Yestrumskas.

She was born Helen Marie Novak in Bridgeport, Conn., the daughter of the late Carl and Anna Novak.

A Clarks Green resident since 1953, she graduated from Scranton Central High School. She was a lifelong member of Providence of God National Catholic Church. She was also a member and past president of the auxiliary of Scranton District Dental Society. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Country Club of Scranton. She loved reading, watching CNN and spending time at her beloved Lake Kewanee.

She is survived by two sons, Peter J. Yestrumskas, Mountaintop; and Paul E. Yestrumskas, Fleetville; a daughter, Judith Downey, Washington, D.C.; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Yestrumskas, Fairfax, Va., Alexandra Yestrumskas, New York, N.Y., Veronica Yestrumskas, West Palm Beach, Fla., twins, Gregory and Erica Yestrumskas, Mountaintop and Robert Downey, Washington, D.C.

She was also preceded in death by brother, William Novak.

The funeral will be Feb. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Providence of God National Catholic Church, 1743 N. Sumner Ave., Scranton, with services by the Rev. Dr. Walter Placek, pastor. Interment will be at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.

The family will receive relatives and friends Feb. 22 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services, 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit. Memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Advocacy Center, 1710 Mulberry St., Scranton, PA 18510.
