The Lakeland School District Board of Directors appointed several new teachers for the 2010-2011 academic year at its July 21 meeting.
New faculty members include three secondary teachers in music, English and history/social studies/math and one elementary/reading teacher.
Charles Barlow was named as Assistant Secondary Principal. Dr. Nicholas Demian was appointed dentist for the school district. Dr. Paul Tomcykoski and Dr. Neal Davis were approved as school district physicians.
In other business, the board renewed a contract with Connect-ED Services, which provides a communication system that automatically notifies Lakeland School District students and parents of any delays or cancellations due to snow or inclement weather.
The board also approved changes to the Lakeland/Mayfield Elementary School Faculty Handbook, which included prohibiting teachers from using cell phones, texting or eating during instruction or duty time.
The next Lakeland School Board meeting will take place Wednesday, August 18, at 8 p.m. at Lakeland Elementary School.
