Eleanor G. Sheard, 97, E. Benton, died June 9 at the Mercy Hospice Unit. She was the widow of Theodore R. Sheard who died in 1996.
Born in Greenfield Twp., daughter of the late Bertis and Elizabeth Thomas Franklin, she was a resident of East Benton since 1920. Prior to retirement she was the co-owner of Franklin General Store in East Benton.
Eleanor lived the life of a devout Christian. One of her greatest joys was the reading and the study of the Bible, both as a student and a teacher. She was a faithful member and supporter of the Parker Hill Community Church and the former Faith Community Church in Glenburn. As an accomplished musician, she enjoyed the piano or organ at her church services as well as for other occasions.
She took great pride in her family, and to them she was a loving mom, grandma and great -grandma. She enjoyed a multitude of friends in her community and in her church family.
Surviving are a step daughter, LaVonne Bell and her husband, Jerry, WA; a stepson- in- law, Carmen Jordan, FL; four stepgrandchildren, Candyce Trotter and her husband, Dr. Griffen, MO, Carmele Cummings and her husband, Timothy, WA, Camille Karcher and her husband, Patrick, VA and Carmen W. Jordan and his wife, Wendi, FL.
She was preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Carolyn Sheard Jordan and two brothers DeForest and Glen Franklin.
A funeral service was held from the E. Benton United Methodist Church, E. Benton. Interment will be in Beach Lake Cemetery, Beach Lake.
