CLARKS SUMMIT — Sunrise Cafe, 212 Depot St., will participate for the third year in the Rotary Club of the Abingtons’ annual Taste of the Abingtons event, offering this year one of its popular seasonal tastes: white creamy chicken chili.
Taste of the Abingtons, the club’s major fundraiser of the year, will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13 at the Nichols Village Hotel and Spa, 1101 Northern Blvd., South Abington Township.
Sunrise Cafe owner Dawn Williams described the event’s atmosphere as “uplifting,” “friendly” and “fun” and said she is grateful for that first invitation to join in the fundraiser three years ago.
“I like getting to know some of the other people who are in there participating as well,” she said.
Williams was nervous before her first year, but when she arrived, other vendors who set up on each side of her table put her immediately at ease. She said her second year was then “a breeze,” and she looks forward to this year’s event even more.
In addition to dozens of local restaurants and eateries, which will provide a variety of specialty food and drink items, the 11th Annual Taste of the Abintons will feature wine and beer tastings, cigar sampling in a confined outdoor area and a Chinese auction. Tickets are $25 and can be obtained from any club member, by calling John Regula, club president, at 570-586-6931 or online at bit.ly/1Jj60YQ.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Rotary projects in the Abingtons community and beyond.
