Cancer Survivors Day is an annual duel-location event held in honor of all people from northeastern Pennsylvania affected by a cancer diagnosis. Cancer survivors, caregivers and healthcare professionals are invited to register for this event at two different locations and dates: Kirby Park, Wilkes-Barre, 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 12; and 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 26, McDade Park, Scranton. Each event will feature a circle of survivors where thoughts or inspirational messages can be shared about your experience, survivor ribbons and pins will be distributed and all in attendance can sign the banner. Chris Ostroski, director of Candy’s Place, will be speaking and leading the Circle of Survivors during the first Survivor’s Day in Kirby Park. To register, call the Cancer Institute at 1-800-424-6724 or go to www.cancernepa.org. There is no registration fee, but pre-registration is required.
