Lackawanna County commissioners committed to safety initiatives for the disabled

Dear Editor,

In light of the CILebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, protecting the nation’s vulnerable, we would like to thank all of the townships, boroughs and municipalities who have provided or updated their handicap accommodations. Lackawanna County has come a long way in providing curb cuts, installing handicap accessible elevators in public places like the Albright Library and approving Community Re-Invest projects for ADA compliance, just to name a few.

But our work is not done yet. We consider it a major priority to make life easier and accessible for our residents with disabilities. Our commitment to fund projects that provide assistance in our local municipalities is unwavering.

Our congratulations to the Center for Independent Living (CIL) on its 25th anniversary. Keep up the excellent work. The strides you have made for our community have made it a truly better place to live and recreate.
