The Wyoming County Players will present their annual Summer Dessert Theater at 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 22 and 23 at the Whipple Performing Arts Studio in Tunkhannock. ‘Sailor, Beware’ is this summer’s comedy, in which the Hornett family is planning a wedding. Their lovely daughter, Shirley, is marrying a sailor, much to the chagrin of Mother Hornett. Father Hornett would like to put in his two cents but dares not cross the line. Daphne Pink, Shirley’s maid of honor, has her eyes on a shy and backward sailor who’s standing up for his best friend. The housemaid is always in tears as she recounts being jilted at the altar, the neighbor next door is a nosy nuisance and the bridegroom is having second thoughts. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for senior citizens age 60 and over and children age 12 and under, and include play admission and desserts. For info and reservations, call 570-836-6986, email kimdwhipple@frontier.com or visit wyomingcountyplayers.com. From left, Amelia Comly as Shirley Hornett and Edward Baumeister as Albert Tufnell strike a pose in their costumes.
