SCRANTON — Committee members from the Ninth Annual Nancy McCormick Volleyball Tournament presented a check for $3,500 to the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute.
The tournament is hosted each year at Dunmore High School during Memorial Day weekend by a group of family and friends of the late Nancy McCormick, a teacher, wife and mother of five who died from colon cancer.
A portion of proceeds from the tournament supports the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute’s Patient Navigation Program, which helps low income, uninsured and underinsured individuals in Northeastern Pennsylvania receive necessary breast, cervical and colon cancer screenings.
To date, the tournament has raised approximately $30,500 for the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute. The Cancer Institute invests 100 percent of its resources locally.
