FALLS — The Falls Active Adult center, sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging of Luzerne and Wyoming counties, invites anyone age 50 and over to the following activities.

Ongoing:

Crafts and Crocheting group, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Mondays.

Brain games at lunch and BINGO following lunch on Tuesdays.

Walking group, 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesdays.

Nutrition talks at lunch and BINGO following lunch on Thursdays.

Free Zumba Gold, 9:15 to 10 a.m. Fridays.

Geocaching activity, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Fridays.

Those wishing to attend for a hot meal at noon, for a suggested donation of $2 for those 60 and over or $4.62 for those under 60, should RSVP to Twila at 570-388-2623 by 12:30 p.m. the day before.

The center is open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and is located on SR 92 in Exeter Township.

Upcoming:

Lunch and Learn, 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21. Kristi Green, RN, from Traditional Hospice will discuss “Prevention of Falls.” Falls are the leading cause of loss of independence to seniors. Come see what you can do to remain safely in your own home.

Blood pressure screenings, 12:20 to 12:50 p.m. Thursday, Sept.24. Green will return to give free blood pressure screenings and will remain for BINGO.

October Fest luncheon, Tuesday, Sept. 29.

Annual Health Fair, 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct.1. Massage therapy and cosmetology students from Susquehanna County Career and Technology Center, under the direction of Massage Therapy Instructor, Jessica Warner, will offer free manicures and neck and shoulder massages. Starting at 11 a.m. will be free vision screening (glaucoma), blood glucose, hemoglobin and blood pressure screenings. Flu shots will also be offered. Most Medicare Insurances cover the flu shots and for those uninsured, the cost is $25. There will be representatives from the Assistive Technology Resource Center, Superior Health Services, Blind Association, Community Counselling, Wyoming Drug and Alcohol, Exeter Township Health Center and Traditional Hospice.
