WAVERLY — Three area groups are coming together to show appreciation to the country’s military veterans with a spaghetti dinner and entertainment following Veterans Day.

The Waverly Community House (Comm), Waverly United Methodist Church (UMC) and First Baptist Church of Abington (FBCA) will host the Veterans Appreciation Dinner at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Comm, 1115 N. Abington Road. Admission is free for all U.S. veterans, and non-veterans may obtain entrance for a donation benefiting Wounded Warriors.

Sandra Rees, chairperson from FBCA, where the event idea originated, said this is the committee’s way of uniting the Community in honor and appreciation of its veterans, who are often under-appreciated in today’s society.

“Hopefully it will make them feel at home and make them feel wanted,” she said.”And just giving them appreciation for everything that they’ve done for our country, which a lot of people just don’t understand anymore.”

Entertainment will be provided by the FBCA Choir, Waverly UMC pianist Jenny Johnson and her father and pianist Tom Butler.

Rees said the main goal of the event is to have “a nice evening full of fun, to make them feel welcome and appreciate what they’ve done.”

For reservations or more information, call Rees at 570-905-4304.
