TUNKHANNOCK — Remember Jack Benny? Our Miss Brooks? Or the 1947 radio series “Mysterious Traveler?”

Those who love “The Theater of the Mind” will want to be at the Dietrich Theater at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1 for the free Golden Days of Radio Players performance. The stories of Jack Benny, Our Miss Brooks and the “Mysterious Traveler” plays will be performed by the Dietrich Radio Players, volunteer actors who share their love of old time radio.

This year’s plays include “Jack Buys Don Shoelaces for Christmas,” from the 1946 “Jack Benny Show”; “Mr. Trible’s Turnabout Christmas” from the 1947 “Mysterious Traveler show” and “The Magic Christmas Tree,” from the 1950 “Our Miss Brooks” show.

The performance is enhanced with live and recorded sound, performed by Esther Harmatz, who is also the director. Attendees will have much to watch as the plays are performed on stage. Adding to the theatricality this year, the actors will make every effort to dress in the styles of the 1940s.

The performance is followed by a reception with light refreshments so everyone can meet the actors. For information or reservations, call 570-996-1500.
