WAVERLY TWP. — The Waverly Community House, 1115 N. Abington Road, will offer beginner Spanish language classes for children with instructor Rebecca Petrini. The classes, which run for six weeks, will be held from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Thursday afternoons in the Scout Room beginning Thursday, Feb. 11.

Lil Spanish Explorers, for children ages 5 to 10, is a beginner level language course designed to introduce children to basic Spanish vocabulary including but not limited to numbers, colors, the alphabet, shapes, body parts, animals, meet and greet phrases, and family members. Students will learn through a variety of fun interactive activities including song, role play, total physical response, arts and crafts, games, and listening response activities.

The instructor, Rebecca Petrini, has a B.S. in international business and Spanish from The University of Scranton where she graduated magna cum laude, and a M.A. in Spanish and Latin American studies from American University in Washington, D.C. Petrini is a high school Spanish teacher with the Mid Valley School District.
