SOUTH ABINGTON TWP. — The planning committee for the Abington Heights High School’s 50th anniversary celebration is comprised of a small but diverse group. A local historian, the current senior class president, the assistant principal and a father-son pair of volunteers sat around a table in the school library on Tuesday evening, March 1 discussing their progress and plans for the big event, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 27 and 28 at the school.

The celebration will include speakers, tours, food, memorabilia and other activities.

The committee is collecting items for a “memorabilia museum,” including photos, old yearbooks, diplomas, apparel and more. Those with items to contribute are asked to call Assistant Principal Lee Ann Theony at 570-585-5332 or email theonyla@ahsd.org. Written memories, digital photos and scans of print artifacts may be submitted online at ahsd50.org.

The next planning meeting for the event will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 22 in the high school library.
