CLARKS GREEN — Abington Christian Academy (ACA) sophomore Elizabeth Treat received Honorable Mention for her acrylic painting, “La Jirafa,” in the Pennsylvania Scholastic Art Competition (Northeastern Pennsylvania Region), hosted by Marywood University.

Treat, a Mill City resident, aims to pursue a career in art education. As part of the academy’s high school emphasis on training young people to see themselves as current contributors to their community, she has been helping to teach her own class of 19 private art students, ranging from Pre-K children through students in 11th grade.

She credits her success to her mentor, Annette Finelle Brush, who gives private art lessons and teaches art at ACA.
