SCRANTON — The Pennsylvania Bureau of Mine Safety will conduct a rescue and training exercise for its staff and other emergency personnel at the coal mine at McDade Park, Scranton, from 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, March 16.

The training session will cover all possible emergency situations that could occur in a mine. A variety different scenarios and equipment, such as a smoke machine, will be utilized to find people and improve the skills necessary for handling a real-life mine crisis.

The coal mine staff, Lackawanna County personnel and area EMTs will be invited to participate. The exercise is being staged free-of-charge.
