WILKES-BARRE — Collaborative Nursing Network of Northeastern Pennsylvania will hold an educational seminar called “Transformational Leadership: Cultivating Quality, Safety, Service and Affordability of Health Care” in April.

The workshop provides an opportunity for nursing professionals and students to learn methods to improve patient care, safety and increasing affordability while earning two academic credits, said Audrey L. Cunfer, a member of the Collaborative Nursing Network of NEPA.

Transformational leadership is a management style where the leader and employees work together to identify business methods that could be improved and changes implemented.

The keynote speaker will be Dianne S. Charsha, R.N., Dr.N.P., N.E.A.-B.C., N.N.P.-B.C., vice president and chief nursing officer at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus in Virginia.

She will discuss key components of transformational leadership and how it can develop safe, high-quality care, techniques that will increase “positive patient experiences and review ways to lower healthcare costs,” according to the news release.

The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. April 19 at the Holiday Inn Express East Mountain, 600 Wildflower Drive, Wilkes-Barre.

Admission is $40 per person to attend both the dinner and lecture. For those interested in attending only the lecture, the fee is $15 per nurse and $5 per nursing student.

Monetary donations will be accepted at the event to benefit the Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank.

The conference is sponsored by the following Sigma Theta Tau Chapters: Xi Gamma at Marywood University in Scranton, Theta Phi at Misericordia University in Dallas, Iota Omega at The University of Scranton, Zeta Psi at Wilkes University and the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association Districts Three and Four.
