SCRANTON — St. Gregory Parish in Clarks Green is among 15 parishes that surpassed their goal for the Diocesan Annual Appeal for each of the past five years.

The Most Reverend Joseph C. Bambera, D.D., J.C.L., Bishop of Scranton, announced the 2015 Diocesan Annual Appeal raised $5,064,000 in gifts and pledges, surpassing the goal of $5 million. A total of 31,479 donros made gifts and pledges and 77 parishes surpassed their Annual Appeal parish goal, an increase from last year, when 48 parishes achieved their goal.

Gifts to the Diocesan Annual Appeal support the various missions of the local churches.

The Diocesan Annual Appeal team includes Diocesan staff, pastors, parish volunteers and committees and regional chairpersons throughout the 11 counties in the Diocese in northeastern and north central Pennsylvania.

The other 14 include Ascension Parish, Forest City; Blessed Sacrament Parish, Throop; Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston; Holy Name of Jesus Parish, West Hazleton; Holy Rosary Parish, Hazleton; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Lake Silkworth; Our Lady of Victory Parish, Harveys Lake; SS Cyril & Methodius Parish, Hazleton; St. Ann Parish, Williamsport; St. John Bosco Parish, Conyngham; St. Monica Parish, West Wyoming; St. Peter’s Cathedral Parish, Scranton; St. Therese Parish, Shavertown and Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, Dickson City.
