Lackawanna Historical Society offers guided downtown walking tours of downtown Scranton

SCRANTON — The Lackawanna Historical Society will offer guided walking tours of Downtown Scranton at 11 a.m. Saturdays during the summer.

These free tours will focus on the architecture and history of some of the city’s commercial and residential buildings. Tours will focus on different sections of the downtown, including Courthouse Square, Lackawanna Avenue, the Gothic District, and the lower portion of the Hill Section.

The Society is once again partnering with POSH @ The Scranton Club for a special discount for tour participants.

Tours are free, but reservations are required by the Thursday prior to the tour date. Call the Lackawanna Historical Society at 570-344-3841 for more details and reservations.

Tours will be offered on the following Saturday dates.

May 28: meet at corner Linden St. and N. Washington Ave.

June 4: meet at St. Peter’s Cathedral, corner Linden and Wyoming

June 11: meet at Lackawanna College, corner N. Washington and Vine

June 18: meet at Elm Park Church, corner Linden and Jefferson

June 25: meet at corner Linden St. and N. Washington Ave.

July 9: meet at St. Peter’s Cathedral, corner Linden and Wyoming

July 26: meet at Lackawanna College, corner N. Washington and Vine

July 23: meet at Elm Park Church, corner Linden and Jefferson

July 30: meet at corner Linden St. and N. Washington Ave.

Aug. 6: meet at St. Peter’s Cathedral, corner Linden and Wyoming

Aug. 13: meet at Lackawanna College, corner N. Washington and Vine

Aug. 20: meet at Elm Park Church, corner Linden and Jefferson

Aug. 27: meet at corner Linden St. and N. Washington Ave.

Sept. 10: meet at Lackawanna College, corner N. Washington and Vine
